Landi English Application Process

1. Resume screening (approximately 30 minutes)

Submit all of your information on the Landi teacher portal for review.

2. Interview + Contract (approximately 1 hour, then 1-2 days processing)

The interview is conducted through Skype. You can book your interview through the teacher portal. Once you do that, you are given your interviewers Skype ID. You must add the ID before your interview begins. It is a good idea test your camera and headset to make sure it is working beforehand. The interviewer will ask you a few questions, but they will also evaluate whether or not your internet is able to maintain a stable connection with their Chinese servers.

3. Training + Mock Class (4 hours training, 10 minute mock class)

First you will do online training through Landi’s platform to help familiarize you with the curriculum and prepare you for the Mock Class. Then, you will use platform to teach a mock class to one of Landi’s recruitment team personnel. They will pretend to be a 6-year old student. Be sure to be energetic, personable, use TPR and body language, and incorporate realia/props. Keep in mind that your instructions should be suitable for a young, low-level English learner.

Landi scores its applicants on the Mock Class with the following criteria:

  • Energy

  • Body language & facial expressions

  • Patience

  • Talking speed (slow and clear)

  • Instructions (your ability to give clear and simple instructions to a young learning)

  • Appetency (your apparent desire to be an educator)

  • Teaching environment (your class background and lighting)

  • Intonation (be sure to vary your intonation)

  • Props, realia, teaching aids (use at least 3 different pieces of props/realia/teaching/aids)

  • Teaching points (your ability to identify, deliver, and do comprehension checks on the teaching points. Be sure to review these before your class)

  • Error Correction (be timely, positive, and encouraging)

In each of these categories, applicants are given either a “pass” or “fail”.

4. Orientation + Profile completion (orientation = 1-2 days, profile completion varies)

If you pass the Mock Class, you must complete a series of orientation exercises online. These will help prepare you for being a teacher at Landi and explain their processes. It will also cover a number HR-related questions about being employed with Landi.

5. Start teaching

Total process: less than two weeks
